Song Reviews

By popular demand we have put together a reasonable way to get your songs reviewed on this site by your peers and music listeners. It is based on a 5-star rating system and the way it works is that the reviewer (listener) can listen to the song right on the spot and then vote on it using the 5-star system and also make comments on the song. A cool way to test the waters before inserting both feet. Check out the new Review Section CLICK HERE… Continue

Yellow Jumps Twice album #9 out now

"Stranger In My Car" the yellow album #9 is out now. It took me nearly one year to record, mix and master the album, 'cause I did it all on my own. Just a few guest musicians. "Stranger In My Car" features the sound of the acoustic guitar. Thirteen songs about the people I met while we're running down the highway of life Some of them are very close to me but they're still like a stranger - a stranger in my car! Continue

Running order for the new Sharp Practise album

My topic this time is running order and guide tracks. I’m pretty keen on getting the right flow to the new album. We’ll kick it off with Hook In My Heart – it’s a song we’ve played live, already made a video for and has some success with in that it’s reached number 37 on the UK's original weekly unsigned chart. Next up will be another song we’ve played live, Question of Love, so we keep that recognisable rock edge to the start of the album before we branch out a little. We’ll go via Nothing Is… Continue

WHY WE NEED YOU!

Hey this is the place where you can hangout, listen to music AND help select the best NEW music from around the world from established and emerging artists and songwriters. Hey, music is the glue that bonds humanity together so why not help make the glue right? Got an opinion? Just let us know... An announcement related to New Music? We would like to know that one too...

Traditional music charts are created from one of two traditional systems:

1) Sales. Sales of songs by recording artists determine chart placement. The weakness of this system is that "money talks" and if you are a big recording company (with deep pockets) you can "salt" sales by buying (through proxy buyers and proxy brick and mortar record outlets) recordings and guarantee yourself some high placements.

2) Plays. On the internet are thousands of sites that offer charting systems where the placement is based upon the number of plays a particular song might get. The weakness of this system is that "rings of friends" can be created whereby artists can agree to listen to each other's music over and over in order to artificially create high plays and chart placement. Recently software has been developed by unsavory internet characters that "gamers" can buy in the form computer bots and spiders that artificially trigger software counters for the sole purpose of "game plays" and run the play statistics (and thus chart placement) higher.

The end result is a totally corrupt music system -- not fair to the listeners and certainly not fair to the talented artists and songwriters who have invested their own time and money to try to bring the world quality, new music.

Join the Kickradio Revolution!

This is the next generation for the music industry and it's dedicated consumers and listeners. We are what radio used to be and lost. As Beeb Birtles, former founding member of the Little River Band, says, "Kickradio is the future of radio!"...

Here you will find the top 40 New songs from around the world performed by established and emerging artists.

These music charts are listener-based and listener driven. They are literally turning the music industry upside down. Why? Because this music is selected by a world wide Jury of listeners who, each week, carefully evaluate each song based upon 5 tangible criteria:

1. The first 30 seconds (introduction) of the song.

2. The Hook (Song is lodged in your memory -- catchy, you can't get enough of it.)

3. Uniqueness (song has it's own special identity, It is different.)

4. Performance. Song is performed well by talented musicians.

5. Motivation to Own. The listener likes this song so much they want to own it.

Truly these songs are the best of the best new songs in the world today. Our Jury is made up of regular normal music fans who just happen to enjoy and appreciate good music. They are not professional critics or music reviewers but music listeners and music buyers.

Because these are new songs they have not yet sold enough copies to make traditional charts like the Billboard and other long-time traditional charts that are based upon actual sales -- nor are they ranked by number of "plays" like most traditional internet-based charts.

Therefore these are a predictable indicator of future hit songs by very talented songwriters and artists. By listening to the Global Top 40 Show you can hear New music by established and emerging artists that you just can't hear anywhere else -- yet!

As you review the charts and listen to the show you can click on the song position on the chart which will then whisk you away via the magic link there to that particular artist's web page where you can learn more about them, sample other music, purchase CD's or download digital MP3 files. It's fun and it's so easy... bookmark this page and come back each week to listen to the latest chart rankings of this Internationally syndicated Radio show hosted by Silverfox.

All songs that our Jury selects for Top 40 rankings are first screened and nominated by the Kickradio Show (www.kickradio.com) also hosted by Silverfox. This show is copyrighted by kickradio.com and all copyrights of music are retained by the original copyright holders. These charts and show cannot be used in any way with written permission of the producers and Kickradio.com.

Please register to be a member of this network -- Hey, do it here -- AND, if you are brave enough why not become a Jury member. You can do that by joining at this website -- it is free, easy and fun and YOU WILL BE MAKING MUSIC HISTORY!!

Breaking Artist News from Rollingstone

Breaking Artist: Love As Laughter

Who: Indie rock vets Love as Laughter, who are finally ready to quit their day jobs with their first proper studio album Holy. Sounds Like: The rougher side of the Seattle music scene with elements of Pavement and Neil Young thrown in the mix. After 14 years, more than 20 band members and five DIY albums under his belt, LAL frontman Sam Jayne entered the studio with the Clash producer Joe Blaney to create an album full of songs Modest Mouse's Isaac Brock calls "amazing," with tracks like the Talking Heads-ish "All Parts of Me" and the romantic rocker "Konny and Jim." Vital Stats:

Hype Monitor: The War on Drugs, Abe Vigoda and Nomo

Every week, Hype Monitor wades through the most buzzed-about bands all across the Internet. This week: a few choice picks from some buzzworthy acts on the Hype Machine. The Band: The War on Drugs The Buzz: Trio from Philly do a cockeyed take on FM country-rock. Listen If: You find yourself spending a lot of time defending Neil Young's Trans. Key Track: "Arms Like Boulders," where Adam Grandciel's Petty-esque moan yawns across fields of gleaming guitars. The Band: Abe Vigoda The Buzz: L.A. experimentalists center instrumental free-falls with sturdy, earnest melodies. Listen If: The thing that bugs you about free jazz is the tunelessness. Key Track: "Bear Face," where a barrage of 16th notes suddenly kick out into a motorik jam that would do Neu! proud. The Band: Nomo The Buzz: Michigan collective do computerized take on Afrobeat. Listen If: You ever tried to replicate Fela Kuti cuts with your Commodore 64. Key Track: "Brainwave," where a single electronic squelch kicks and pitches over rolling percussion. [*Photo: Courtesy Secretly Canadian*]

Breaking Artist: My Brightest Diamond

Who: Classically trained singer/songwriter Shara Worden, who mixed her love of strings with her downtown New York aesthetic for her second album A Thousand Shark's Teeth. Sounds Like: Bjork gone minimalist, with a bit of American chamber pop sheen thrown in for good measure. "I listen to probably 98% pop music," explains Worden. "I think that whatever you put in your body is probably what’s going to come out more. So for me, my songs are just tunes. The way I see them relating to classical music is that I wanted songs that were drawing more from Debussy and Ravel, songs where there’s something that’s very impressionistic and about mood and color rather than 'Here comes the chorus!'" Vital Stats:

Hype Monitor: Vivian Girls, Kudu and Blu & Exile

Every week, Hype Monitor wades through the most buzzed-about bands all across the Internet. This week: a few choice picks from some buzzworthy acts on the Hype Machine. The Band: Vivian Girls The Buzz: New York Trio flashes back to 1986, throwing girl group harmonies over roaring guitars. Listen If: You often find yourself wishing the Ronnettes had bigger amps — or if you know "C86" isn't a sci-fi movie. Key Track: "Wild Eyes," which speeds by in a blur of stuttering snare, growling guitars and ethereal vocals. The Band: Kudu The Buzz: Brooklyn group builds bleak electropop, haunting and sublime. Listen If: You think life is better with the lights out. Key Track: "Neon Graveyard (Drop the Lime Remix)," where the band's usually dour demeanor gets shaken up by clattering drums. The Band: Blu & Exile The Buzz: Nimble LA rapper turns out songs full of smarts and soul. Listen If: You're starting to get tired of all this Lil Wayne hubbub, too. Key Track: "Blu Collar Worker," where Blu gets blue over what it takes to pay the bills while chipmunk soul chatters in the background.

Breaking Artist: Mason Jennings

Who: Minnesota folk king Mason Jennings, who gets spiritual and explores where babies come from on his new album In the Ever. Sounds Like: Having just signed to Brushfire Records, the easy comparison is Jennings' good friend, current tour mate and Brushfire owner Jack Johnson. But Jennings also draws from the Minnesota rock scene, Comes a Time-era Neil Young and his favorite band, Led Zeppelin — all channeled through acoustic guitars. "Whenever I have electric guitars going, my voice just disappears. I'm too mellow," Jennings says of his aspirations to be Robert Plant. Vital Stats:
